Tianjin Government Leaders Training Program

Tianjin Government Leaders Training Program (the Program) is a sister city flagship project between Melbourne and Tianjin.

Under the agreement among the City of Melbourne, the Tianjin Municipal Government and RMIT in 2001, each year a group of senior officials from Tianjin government and state-owned-enterprises (Tianjin leaders) are selected and participate in a management course delivered by RMIT with support from the City of Melbourne.

The focus of the Program is to provide the next generation of Tianjin leaders with access to international training and immersion of western business practices and cultures. The Program encompasses lecturers, workshops, industry briefings, site visits, social activities and mentoring.

The City of Melbourne has played a significant role in the implementation of the Program. By hosting networking functions, industry visits, cultural activities and business matching sessions, the City of Melbourne assists the program participants to forge personal and working relationships with Melbourne’s businesses and government sectors, which leads to tangible business outcomes between the two cities.

This year is the 16th intake of the Program with 15 participants undertaking the training course at RIMT College of Business from 4 August to 9 October. To date, 275 Tianjin leaders have participated in the Program. Melbourne maintains its unique position amongst rest Australian cities to have access to such a network of current and future leaders and decision makers in China. Please join us in welcoming the leaders and wishing them great experiences in Melbourne.
