HASSELL secures Sanya project

 

Australian architecture and design firm HASSELL was recently awarded the interior design project of the world’s largest duty-free store in Sanya, Hainan. The China Sanya Haitang Bay International Shopping Centre will be developed in three phases by CITS (Beijing) Investment Development and CDF (Group). Phase 1 will have a total area of 120,000m2 – the size of 17 football fields. When completed in 2014, the project will be the largest duty-free shopping centre in the world.

 

In October, HASSELL also won three awards for projects in China and Australia at the 2012 World Architecture Festival. A series of ‘Man-Built Islands’ for Dongqian Lake in Ningbo won the Future Projects – Experimental Category. ‘Perry Park’, a sports and recreation centre on a park and wetland site outside Sydney won the Future Projects – Competition Entries category. The ‘Tianjin Binhai Transport Interchange’ won the Future Projects – Infrastructure category.

Shui On Land Selects Aconex for $1.6B Shanghai Project

 

Aconex has been awarded a contract to manage the streamlining of communications and the exchange of information between all project team members through its cloud-based technology for Shui On Land Limited’s US$1.6 billion Knowledge and Innovation Community project in Shanghai.

Aconex’s online project collaboration technology is one of the world’s most widely used solutions platform for the construction, infrastructure, power, mining, and oil and gas industries and has served projects valued at more than US$600 billion, with over 280,000 users.

The KIC project in Shanghai is a mixed-use development which will create a modern “live-work-play community” with office, retail, residential, entertainment, and recreational facilities and is located in Shanghai’s Yang Pu district covering 84 hectares.

Andy Lake, general manager of Asia at Aconex, said the company has experienced high demand for its solutions platform in China, as more and more companies experience the benefits of online project collaboration.
He said some 25,000 industry professionals in Greater China use the platform to manage their project information, and Aconex expects this figure to grow rapidly over the next few years.

 

COX + UPDS secures three major China projects

 

COX + UPDS has won a contract from the Bureau of Urban Planning of Guangzhou Municipality to deliver a 7km2 International Financial City in Guangzhou, to help the city compete with other Asian financial hubs Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. The project includes the detailed urban design of 12 distinct precincts with a number of attractions and destinations providing the anchors for a 24-hour, 7-day a week hub. Cox provided the vision, concept and detailed master plan, 3D renders, supporting plans and diagrams, detailed design report, animated presentation and urban design guidelines for each of the key precincts.

 

Cox has also recently won a contract for the Zheng Xing South Master Plan in Chengdu for the vision of a Garden City. Cox has been contracted to introduce vibrancy and activity to the Tianfu corridor as a key destination for living, working, tourism, education and recreation.

 

Cox has also secured contracts for the redevelopment of the Shanghai Expo North precinct into a new hub for the growth of tourism culture and the arts.

CK Designworks secures Chengdu Contract

 

Melbourne-based international architects, CK Designworks has recently won a contract in Chengdu worth $400 million following the Victorian Trade Mission in September with Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu. The project includes the design of a hotel, retail and office complex project in the CBD of Chengdu, one of central China’s fastest-growing cities, a 1200-seat theatre and revolving restaurant. All of the architectural work will be done from CK Designwork’s Melbourne office. ■
