AustCham Shanghai membership has developed strongly this year, bringing into our community more prominent Australian corporations and dynamic entrepreneurial companies.

We are extremely proud and pleased to have formed AustCham Greater China with the AustCham offices in Beijing and Hong Kong. This national peak body for AustChams and the 1,870 Australian companies we represent across Greater China heralds a new phase in our ability, as a collective voice, to demonstrate Australian talent and represent Australian entrepreneurs and our innovative products and services across China.

Our new AustCham Greater China branding was unveiled at the AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards gala presentation on 27 October.

Congratulations to Joanne Wood, who has been elected inaugural Chair of AustCham Greater China. Joanne, based in Shanghai, has our full support and confidence.

Each AustCham office must provide outstanding membership value to their members to maintain our dynamic communities.

This has been at the forefront of our voluntary Board of Directors minds’ over recent months while considering our rapidly increasing membership base, currently at 400 corporate, associate and individual members.

To review the key areas of our operations and drive positive developments, our Directors held a successful Board strategy weekend during August.

We are looking closely at our membership value proposition for our members, including a better Events Program, communication and engagement, and will continue to direct our energies into driving improvements over coming months.

We look forward to our Australian business community in Shanghai reaping benefits from enhancements to our already strong network and activities.

And most importantly, we anticipate our collective growth, connectivity and progress across Greater China.

Chairman, AustCham Shanghai.

AustCham Shanghai welcomes Australian education students and alumni by offering 75 percent discount on membership

austcham_sh_cq_thumbAustCham Shanghai is offering a special ‘Student/Alumni’ membership discount to introduce students and recent graduates of Australian institutions to its network.

The membership category suits people such as Sydney University Bachelor of Commerce/Liberal Studies graduate Chloe Qiu, who joined AustCham Shanghai last year after moving to Shanghai to work.

“One of my friends who used to work with ANZ introduced me to AustCham Shanghai,” Chloe said.

“Initially we went to a few of the Industry Committee events, such as the Small-to-Medium Enterprises Roundtable, and thought it was a great way to network and meet fellow Australians and learn more about the Chinese market.

“Then we went to the AustCham Shanghai Ball, and thought it was one of the best balls we’ve ever been too – and we love Aussie Drinks – we love basically everything about AustCham Shanghai!”

The ‘Student/Alumni’ membership category, offered at a 75 percent discounted rate to standard ‘Individual’ membership, is open to any full-time student subscribing to the mission of AustCham Shanghai, or any recent graduate of an Australian tertiary studies or vocational skills institute of any type. Membership costs 330RMB annually, plus a 50RMB joining fee.
