Australian renewable energy company, CBD Energy has some ambitious plans as it strengthens its relationships in China’s renewable energy sector.
CBD Energy, a Sydney-based diversified renewable energy and energy storage company, has been providing sustainable solutions for fossil fuel and CO2 emission reduction in Australia and around the world for the past five years.
In late 2009, the business appointed James Greer as its China General Manager to co-ordinate the company’s China business relationships in its aims of expanding its involvement in projects in China and Australia.
The business has also been able to lever off existing relationships established by CBD Energy Chairman, former Australian deputy Prime Minister, Mark Vaile and the company’s Managing Director Gerry McGowan.
CBD Energy has established business partnerships for the development of renewable projects in Australia and China, as well as exploring opportunities for the commercialisation of its graphite storage technology with several of China’s leading renewable energy companies including DaTang Renewable Power Company and the Baoding Tianwei Group.
Establishing bases in both China and Australia, CBD Energy is in partnership with these Chinese companies in the fields of research, development and the manufacturing of graphite storage technology as a basis for expanding the adoption of this Australian invention into global markets. CBD’s graphite storage technology has already been selected for use in a solar development in China.
CBD’s Beijing office has also been responsible for establishing a supply chain for CBD Energy and its subsidiary companies in sourcing products, as well as the manufacturing of Australian designed products for local and international markets.
The company is currently in discussions for several wind and solar projects in China which will include design and investment.
“As countries around the world continue to debate a viable outcome for a domestic and international Emissions Trading Scheme, the Chinese government has been implementing favourable policies for renewable energy, resulting in development of some of the emerging global leaders in the sector,” says Mr Greer,
“Storage technology is already at the forefront of the renewable energy sector and CBD Energy believes its Australian technology, once commercialized, will have substantial demand, in China and globally.”
Along with CBD Energy’s growing involvement in China, it recently won a contract to build and manage a large scale solar power plant in Thailand, through subsidiary, eco-Kinetics. ■
