Crown Worldwide may be better known as Crown Relocation and moving services but has in Shanghai recently launched its Crown Wine Cellars Shanghai operation, which has been modelled on the success of the company’s private Hong Kong cellars.
Aimed at both domestic wine collectors and local and international distributors looking for state-of-the-art wine cellar design and facilities in China, Crown Wine Cellars Shanghai has, in just several months since the launch, signed on several large-scale international wine importers and its first Australian winery.
Existing high-profile clients using Crown’s temperature-controlled cellar facilities in Shanghai have been attracted to CWC’s uncompromising approach to wine storage. The cellar, located at the company’s Sui De Road site in Shanghai, boasts computer-controlled humidity (between 65 percent and 75 percent), computer-controlled temperature regulation (between 12.5°C and 13.5°C), compartmentalized cellar areas, zero vibration (ensured by its underground location and reinforced concrete construction), zero light penetration, artificial high-pressure sodium vapour lighting, multi-zone lighting systems and 24-hour, onsite security as well as comprehensive CCTV camera security, infra-red alarm systems and security coded locks at all entry points.
The Shanghai wine cellar has been designed to conform with the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency’s Wine Storage Management Systems Certification Scheme – this world first wine storage certification scheme was launched in 2009 in response to Hong Kong’s rapidly growing international reputation as Asia’s number one hub for wine trading and wine distribution. Crown Wine Cellars Shanghai adopted the Hong Kong wine storage accreditation scheme in lieu of a yet to be established scheme for Mainland China.
Gregory De’Eb, a technical committee member of the WSMS, established and operates Crown’s successful Hong Kong cellars business and has played an integral role in establishing Crown’s Shanghai wine storage facility.
