AustCham Shanghai Chairman’s Column: Expo access with AustCham Shanghai

As Expo settles into Shanghai, AustCham Shanghai is helping members to build business with exclusive access to Expo and a distinguished speaker series, reports Stephen White, Chair, AustCham Shanghai.

Since the launch of Shanghai World Expo 2010 AustCham Shanghai members have enjoyed privileged access to events both in and out of Expo. Members have been addressed at AustCham Shanghai events by Victorian Premier John Brumby, NSW Premier Kristina Keneally, Australian culinary icon Stephanie Alexander, and Chief Economists from three of Australia’s leading banks.

As an Associate partner of the Australian pavilion, AustCham Shanghai has been able to offer its membership exclusive access to a range of functions inside the Australian pavilion including: several industry-specific forums and networking functions; the AustCham Shanghai Gala event celebrating Australian business in China; as well as invitations to many of the industry specific events organised by DFAT, Austrade and other pavilion stakeholders.

Through the Chamber, members have been invited to key events where they have had the opportunity to meet senior government officials including: the Minister for Trade Simon Crean, the Treasurer Wayne Swan, the Australian Governor General Quentin Bryce, as well as receiving access to key Expo Australia Day events such as the flag raising ceremony and several VIP concerts. Access to Expo events will continue for AustCham Shanghai members throughout 2010. The AustCham Shanghai Business Directory (Shanghai World Expo 2010 Edition) has been widely distributed at Australian pavilion and AustCham Shanghai events and provides easy to access information on AustCham Shanghai member businesses in Shanghai.
